Public Statement: What Happened Between Droidex Companion and FOAD

FOAD has removed Droidex Companion from its Discord, removed my community role, deleted ordinary messages I posted, described me as “unvetted” and “untrustworthy,” and banned me for “promotion of site.”
This has become a major topic in the Droid Tycoon community, so I am putting the documented timeline in one place.

August 20: FOAD asked us to delay the Fusion recipes

On August 20, Eric from FOAD contacted me specifically because I run Droidex Companion.
At the time, Droidex Companion was listed as a community resource in the FOAD Discord, and I had a FOAD community role.

Eric asked whether Dog and I would voluntarily delay publishing the upcoming Droid Fusion recipes so players would have several days to discover the combinations themselves.

I agreed immediately.

Eric suggested that we create countdown pages on our websites and tell players that we were delaying the release at FOAD’s request. He then created a group message with Dog and me and proposed that we wait until Friday, August 28, at 1:00 PM.

I also offered to sign an NDA or another formal agreement. My goal was to prepare accurate Droidex Companion website and app updates ahead of time while releasing them only when FOAD authorized it.
Eric said FOAD’s existing playtester NDA probably would not cover someone in my position and that they would need a modified agreement.

In the meantime, he said:
“For the time being I’ll take your word and hopefully we just work in good faith with one another.”

That is what I did.

FOAD did not provide the Fusion recipes to Dog or me. We found the information independently. Even so, we agreed to FOAD’s request and withheld the combinations.

Neither Dog nor I released the Fusion recipes while the embargo was active.

When Dog showed Eric the page he was preparing, Dog specifically clarified:
“This is just the wiki tho, not the combos.”

Other players eventually began solving and circulating the recipes themselves. I told Eric what was happening and asked him about it.

Eric then told us:
“List seems to be out there so feel free to have y’all’s up.”

Dog also asked Eric whether FOAD had shown some of the combinations during a Discord screenshare. Eric stated that he had shown about three combinations, although not a complete list (which is an outright lie but I digress).

The Fusion timeline is straightforward.

FOAD asked Dog and me to delay the recipes. We agreed. Neither of us published them early. Other people began circulating the combinations. I brought that to Eric’s attention. Eric ended the embargo and told us we were free to publish.

Dog and I honored the agreement from beginning to end.

August 28: The D-O timeout

On August 28, I posted one question in FOAD’s general chat:
“How much would you guys love a D-O Event VBuck purchase”

That was the entire message.

It didn't include the price of the Event Pass. It didn't include event rewards, objectives, dates, progression requirements, or any other D-O event details.

The message was deleted, and I received a 24-hour timeout. I was also told that my “future” with the developers would be discussed.

I did not break the Fusion embargo.

Dog did not break the Fusion embargo.

Neither of us published the Fusion recipes before Eric told us that the embargo was over.

What happened after the timeout

After the D-O dispute, Dog was banned from the FOAD Discord. My community role was removed. Droidex Companion was removed from FOAD’s listed community tools. Ordinary messages I posted in general chat began being deleted, including basic greetings and normal answers to gameplay questions. Messages as simple as “hey” were being removed. I was then being described as “unvetted” and “untrustworthy.”

Droidex Companion has always been an independent community project. I have never claimed that Droidex Companion was owned, operated, formally approved, or officially endorsed by FOAD.

But FOAD knew exactly who I was and what Droidex Companion was.

FOAD listed Droidex Companion in its server. FOAD gave me a community role. Eric contacted me specifically as the creator of Droidex Companion. He asked me to coordinate a release with FOAD, suggested that I advertise the embargo with a countdown on the Droidex Companion website, and asked me to work with him in good faith.

I also offered to participate in a formal vetting process by signing an NDA.

No modified NDA or other agreement was ever provided.
FOAD may not have formally vetted Droidex Companion, but that is different from claiming that I acted dishonestly or could not be trusted.
When FOAD asked me to honor an embargo, I honored it.

August 31: FOAD banned me for “promotion of site”

On August 31 at approximately 8:25 PM, a player in general chat asked:
“When will the Protocol droids arrive? And what do we know about them?”
I answered:
“After the rerun.”

That response contained no website link, no advertisement, and no unreleased event details.
Approximately four minutes later, at 8:29 PM, I received a notification stating:
“You got banned from Droid Tycoon - FOAD”
The reason given was:
“promotion of site”

The ban notice didn't identify a specific message, link, advertisement, or channel violation.

FOAD’s posted Rule 2 says:
“Sharing your own content is fine in the right channels.”
The same rule prohibits advertising other servers or social accounts in chat or direct messages.

My Discord display name had included the Droidex Companion website address while I held FOAD’s community role. FOAD staff interacted with me under that name, and no moderator told me that I needed to remove it.

Until my community role was removed, FOAD had not objected to the Droidex Companion website appearing in my display name.

No one asked me to change the name before banning me.

The ban notice also did not explain whether “promotion of site” referred to my display name, an earlier message, a link, or something else.

The last visible message I posted before the ban was:
“After the rerun.”

FOAD asked Dog and me to delay publishing the Fusion recipes.

We agreed.

Neither of us published the recipes while that agreement was active.

Other players began releasing the combinations.

I informed Eric.

Eric told us the list was already circulating and that we were free to publish.

Dog and I honored the Fusion agreement.

Days later, I asked a vague question about a possible D-O V-Buck purchase.

FOAD deleted the question and gave me a 24-hour timeout.

There was no D-O embargo.

There was no NDA.

My community role was removed. Droidex Companion was removed from FOAD’s listed tools. Ordinary messages I posted were deleted. I was described as unvetted and untrustworthy.

FOAD then banned me for “promotion of site.”
The ban notice did not identify a specific promotional message.

My final visible message before the ban contained no link and no promotion.

FOAD’s own rules state that sharing your own content is allowed in the appropriate channels.

No one told me that the Droidex Companion website in my display name had become prohibited, and no one asked me to remove it before the ban.

Droidex Companion remains an independent Droid Tycoon community project.
