How do Pickaxe critical hits and Multi-Crit work?
For an unboosted primary hit, round effective Pickaxe Level down, add one and multiply by 1.2 to get crafting seconds removed. Crit Amount is a decimal multiplier, starting at ×1.5. Each Multi-Crit roll has half the previous chance, and each success adds the bonus portion of the multiplier.
Load your synced build or enter your Chance, Amount multiplier and Nova Shop levels, then compare the expected gain per 1,000 Nova Crystals.
Compare Astromech bonusesThe clean formula
Effective level = Pickaxe level + Astromech bonus
Normal seconds removed = 1.2 × (effective level + 1)
Base critical seconds removed = normal hit × 1.5
Crit Amount is a decimal multiplier. Enter 1.5 for ×1.5 or 2.75 for ×2.75. The base ×1.5 includes the normal hit plus 50% extra.
Primary hit = normal hit × [1 + crit count × (Crit Amount − 1)]. With Crit Amount ×3, two crits produce five times normal.

Enter your unboosted Pickaxe Level and flat Astromech bonus. The game applies Crafting Boost and event multipliers separately; this calculator does not apply timed boosts automatically. Additional Echo attacks are excluded.
Enter Crit Chance, the Crit Amount multiplier and your Multi-Crit level. Companion and Rebirth bonuses are already part of the totals, so the model does not need a separate Chopper mode.
The interactive current-to-target graph includes Critical Chance, the Crit Amount multiplier and Multi-Crit. Signed-in players can load their synced build; guests can enter it manually. Set target shop levels to see every intervening purchase, prerequisite costs, and the Nova Crystals still needed after using your balance. Targets are saved on this device separately from purchases. The calculator also compares the next purchase and shows your roll chain and crafting seconds.
Multi-Crit costs 400, 800, 1,200, and 1,600 Nova Crystals, with four levels available.

Your starting stats and bonuses
The starting stats are 1% Crit Chance and ×1.5 Crit Amount. Equipped Chopper adds 50 percentage points to Chance and 0.5 to the Amount multiplier.
Rebirth 23, 26 and 29 each grant 5 percentage points to Chance. Rebirth 24, 27 and 30 each grant 0.1 to the Amount multiplier. These bonuses follow the current Rebirth path and reset on Super Rebirth.
What we know about critical hits
The game gives everyone a 1% baseline critical chance and a ×1.5 base critical multiplier. Critical Chance adds 5 percentage points per shop level. Critical Amount adds 0.1 to the multiplier per shop level.
Each Multi-Crit success adds the bonus part of the multiplier to the normal hit. The chain ends at the first failed roll or its level cap.
The Multi-Crit big takeaway
100% Crit Chance is no longer the point where Crit Chance stops being useful. Multi-Crit makes extra Crit Chance carry into later rolls.
How Multi-Crit works
Multi-Crit lets one pickaxe swing trigger more than one Critical Strike. Level 1 adds one roll after the first crit, Level 2 adds another, and every later roll has half the Crit Chance of the previous roll.
- Crit #1 at 200%: Guaranteed.
- Crit #2 at 100%: Guaranteed.
- Crit #3 at 50%.
- Crit #4 at 25%.
The chain ends when a roll fails or reaches the Multi-Crit level cap. Multi-Crit Level 3 allows four total crit rolls: the first crit plus three extra rolls.
Why go above 100% Crit Chance?
Without Multi-Crit, 100% makes every swing crit. With Multi-Crit, extra Crit Chance improves the additional rolls.
| Crit Chance | Crit #1 | Crit #2 | Crit #3 | Crit #4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100% | 100% · Guaranteed | 50% | 25% | 12.5% |
| 150% | 150% · Guaranteed | 75% | 37.5% | 18.8% |
| 200% | 200% · Guaranteed | 100% · Guaranteed | 50% | 25% |
| 300% | 300% · Guaranteed | 150% · Guaranteed | 75% | 37.5% |
| 400% | 400% · Guaranteed | 200% · Guaranteed | 100% · Guaranteed | 50% |
With Multi-Crit Level 3, 800% Crit Chance guarantees all four available crit rolls. At 400%, the fourth roll is still a 50% chance.
Example: 200% Crit Chance + Multi-Crit Level 3
For a calculated example, take a normal hit worth 10 seconds. At Crit Amount ×3, each successful crit adds 20 seconds. Crit #1 at 200% and Crit #2 at 100% are guaranteed, Crit #3 has a 50% chance, and Crit #4 has a 25% chance if reached.
The swing removes 50 seconds when the third roll fails, 70 seconds when the third succeeds but the fourth fails, or 90 seconds when all four crit. Those outcomes average 62.5 seconds removed across many swings.
Crit Chance vs. Crit Amount
More Crit Chance means more chances to Multi-Crit. More Crit Amount means every successful crit removes more crafting time.
The simple version
You swing once. The game asks “Crit?” and then “Crit again?” Every time it asks again, the chance is cut in half. Multi-Crit Level 1 adds one extra question, up to four extra questions at Level 4.
Pickaxe credit costs
This table covers purchased ranks 1 through 30. Target rank L costs 300 × 2.9^(L − 1) credits; the first purchase costs 300. The game has no fixed rank-30 cap. Displayed prices truncate to two decimals, matching the game.

Core formulas
Effective level is the unboosted Pickaxe Level plus its Astromech bonus. Normal seconds removed equals 1.2 times the floored effective level plus one. Crit Amount is a decimal multiplier: the base ×1.5 includes 50% extra. Each successful crit adds the bonus portion again.

The interactive graph loads a signed-in player's synced build and compares current and target average swing strength. Totals are calculated from recorded purchases, the complete companion loadout and Rebirth using the game rules. Missing inputs remain unknown. Enter a Crit Amount multiplier such as 1.5 or 2.75. Targets are saved on this device separately from recorded purchases. The tool totals every required upgrade and the Nova Crystal shortfall, and compares expected gain per 1,000 Nova Crystals.
