Which droid should I put in the Upgrade Chip Station?
Place the highest rarity and variant standard droid you own. Iconics cannot be placed in the Station. Use BB-8 as your active companion when collecting to double the payout.
Collect at least once an hour because production stops at the storage cap.
Compare Station ratesUpgrade Chips per minute by droid
Production is set by the droid placed in the Station and rises with both rarity and variant, from 2 per minute for a Default Common to 60 per minute for a Galactic Mythic. Every published rate equals 2 x rarity rank x variant rank.
| Variant | Common | Rare | Epic | Legendary | Mythic |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Default | 2/min | 4/min | 6/min | 8/min | 10/min |
| Gold | 4/min | 8/min | 12/min | 16/min | 20/min |
| Diamond | 6/min | 12/min | 18/min | 24/min | 30/min |
| Rainbow | 8/min | 16/min | 24/min | 32/min | 40/min |
| Beskar | 10/min | 20/min | 30/min | 40/min | 50/min |
| Galactic | 12/min | 24/min | 36/min | 48/min | 60/min |
Which droid do I place?
The Station holds one non-Iconic droid. Place the highest rarity and variant combination you own. A Galactic Mythic at 60 chips per minute is the ceiling.
Which droid do I upgrade?
Upgrade the cheapest rarities first. A Galactic Common produces 12 per minute, more than a Default Mythic at 10. The Common climb costs 275 chips; the first Mythic step alone costs 4,000.
Does the upgrade pay for itself?
Payback is the chip cost divided by the extra chips per minute the upgrade unlocks. It is collected Station time, not wall-clock time, because the Station does not run while you are offline.
| Rarity | Chips for the full climb | Production | Pays for itself in | Chips per hour once Galactic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 275 | 2 to 12/min | 27.5 min | 720 |
| Rare | 840 | 4 to 24/min | 42 min | 1,440 |
| Epic | 7,540 | 6 to 36/min | 4.2 hours | 2,160 |
| Legendary | 26,100 | 8 to 48/min | 10.9 hours | 2,880 |
| Mythic | 116,000 | 10 to 60/min | 38.7 hours | 3,600 |

The one hour storage cap
Storage holds 60 minutes of production. Once it is full, later production is lost, so collect at least once an hour while you play.
| You collect | Production kept | Chips per hour, Galactic Mythic | With BB-8 out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Every 15 minutes | 100% | 3,600 | 7,200 |
| Every 30 minutes | 100% | 3,600 | 7,200 |
| Every 1 hour | 100% | 3,600 | 7,200 |
| Every 1.5 hours | 67% | 2,400 | 4,800 |
| Every 2 hours | 50% | 1,800 | 3,600 |
| Every 3 hours | 33% | 1,200 | 2,400 |
A three-hour session with one collection at the end gives the same 3,600 chips as a one-hour session on a Galactic Mythic.
Update v1.25 fixed the Station not working properly after a Super Rebirth.
BB-8 doubles what you collect
BB-8 multiplies what leaves the Station rather than what accumulates. A full Galactic Mythic store pays 3,600 chips normally and 7,200 with BB-8 out.
Is the Station worth 120 Nova?
It is strongest for long play sessions where you can collect on the hour. Short check-ins do not substitute for active play because the Station has no offline production.

The short answer
The Station holds one standard droid and its rate rises with rarity and variant. Place the highest combined droid you own, then spend chips on the cheapest rarity ladders first. A complete Common climb costs 275 chips and repays in 27.5 min; the same Mythic climb costs 116,000 and takes 38.7 hours. Have BB-8 equipped when collecting and empty storage at least once an hour.
Working again after a Super Rebirth
Update v1.25 fixed the Station not working properly after a Super Rebirth. The published rates assume a functioning Station, so a player who stopped using it after incorrect post-reset output can compare the current panel with these values again.
You do not have to memorise thirty numbers
Every published rate equals two times rarity rank times variant rank. Common through Mythic count from one through five, and Default through Galactic count from one through six. A Rainbow Epic is therefore 2 times 3 times 4, or 24 chips per minute.
Each step adds the same rate for a given rarity even though later upgrade prices rise. A Common gains 2 per minute at every step, while a Mythic gains 10. The reward for moving one step does not grow with the price, which is why low-rarity upgrades repay so much faster.
The one hour cap is doing more damage than the rate
Storage keeps 60 minutes of production. Once full, later production is lost. A three-hour session with one collection at the end pays the same as one hour, so collection cadence can matter more than replacing an already strong droid.
BB-8 doubles the amount removed from storage; it does not double the fill speed or extend the cap. A full Galactic Mythic store contains 3,600 chips normally and pays 7,200 when collected with BB-8.
One droid, and Iconics are not allowed in
The Station has exactly one slot. Role, base income, and companion effect do not affect its production rate, so placement is simply the highest eligible rarity and variant combination owned. Iconic droids cannot be placed because they do not use the standard variant-rate ladder.
C-3PO, R2-D2, CB-23, BB-8, and the other Iconics remain valuable for their own production and companion effects. None is a Station placement option, even when its companion effect changes what happens at collection.
Keep going
Use the Station calculator for the exact droid available, compare the result with the Upgrade Chip target, and check the Nova guide before spending 120 crystals. Long active sessions with hourly collections favor the Station; brief visits and offline time do not produce chips.
Payback uses collected Station minutes, not wall-clock time. A rate that looks strong on paper still loses value whenever storage sits full or the player is offline.
