Droidex Companion User Manual

Set up the Companion, learn the three player hotkeys, arrange overlays, calibrate every screen-reading area, connect website sync, save backups, and fix common problems.

How do I use and calibrate Droidex Companion?

Use Shift + F2 for the Overlay Manager, Shift + F10 to unlock or lock overlay positions, and Ctrl + Shift + F3 for live calibration. Calibrate only when Droidex asks, a reading is missing or wrong, or your resolution or HUD layout changed.

Check the Resource strip first: start left of the Credits icon, leave extra room for changing values, and keep the Credit multiplier completely outside the box.

Quick start

  1. Install or update Droidex Companion from Overwolf, then open it once from the Overwolf dock.
  2. Complete the seven setup screens. Linking your Droidex account is optional, but it is required for website sync and the participating-player lobby.
  3. Start Fortnite and enter Droid Tycoon. Droidex opens its player overlays only after it confirms the correct island.
  4. Press Shift + F2 to open the Overlay Manager and choose the surfaces you want.
  5. If the app says calibration is needed, press Ctrl + Shift + F3 while Fortnite is running, check the boxes against the live HUD, and save.

Hotkeys

Change a hotkey in Companion > Menu > Settings > Change hotkeys.

What each overlay does

Timers

Countdowns for timed game events and activities.

Lobby

Participating Droidex players in the same lobby and the shared information they enabled.

Message Center

Live scan, sync, warning, and action messages. Leave this on while learning the app because it explains what Droidex is doing.

Location

A compact confirmation that Droidex knows where you are. Location gates help prevent scans in the wrong place.

Rebirth

The droids still needed for the selected Rebirth cycle, plus Fusion ingredient tracking.

Held Droid

Keep-or-sell guidance and values when Droidex detects a held blueprint, crafted droid, C-3PO part, or Upgrade Chip reward.

Your Build

Your live numbers, their sources, and Nova purchases that improve them. It expands while the Nova Shop is open.

Companions

The two equipped companions, their effects, and the Upgrade Chips needed to reach Stellar.

Move, resize, scale, and lock overlays

  1. Press Shift + F10 until overlay controls are unlocked. Move rails and resize handles appear only while unlocked.
  2. Press Shift + F2 and turn on the overlay you want to place.
  3. Drag the DRAG TO MOVE rail, or the HOLD + DRAG TO MOVE control on compact overlays.
  4. Use the resize handle where one is provided. Use the size control in the Overlay Manager to select 0.5x through 1.75x.
  5. Repeat for each game resolution you use; layout and scale are remembered per resolution.
  6. Press Shift + F10 again to lock the layout. The rails and handles disappear so they do not block gameplay.
  7. If a layout becomes confusing, use Reset overlay arrangement in the Companion. This resets positions while keeping the selected scale.

When calibration is needed - and why

  • Droidex reads small parts of the Fortnite window. Calibration tells it exactly where those HUD parts are on your resolution and HUD layout.
  • A built-in calibrated profile may work immediately. Review it only when a number is missing or wrong, or when Droidex labels the profile estimated or not ready.
  • Calibrate again after changing game resolution, display mode, HUD scale, safe-zone settings, stretched resolution, or monitor layout if the saved boxes no longer line up.
  • Profiles are saved per game resolution. A good 1920x1080 profile is not automatically the right profile for 2560x1440, ultrawide, or a windowed game size.

Calibrate step by step

  1. Open Droid Tycoon and stand where the normal HUD is visible. Close menus that cover the HUD.
  2. Press Ctrl + Shift + F3. The live calibrator should cover the Fortnite game area.
  3. Choose a region from the Region list. Click a box once to select it, drag inside the box to move it, and drag any corner handle to resize it.
  4. Leave Scan this region checked for every feature you want Droidex to read. A disabled region is never scanned.
  5. Use the guidance for each box below. Do not make every box as tight as possible; several game values move or change width.
  6. Press Save. Unsaved changes are not capture-ready. The reader uses the saved boxes on its next scan.
  7. Close calibration. If the cursor is hidden, press Ctrl + Tab, or close the calibrator from the Overlay Manager.

The Resource strip box is the most important one

This one box lets Droidex find Credits, Upgrade Chips, Nova Crystals, and Rebirth by locating their icons inside the strip.

  • Start the box clearly to the left of the Credits icon. The entire icon must be inside the box, with a little room before it.
  • Extend the right edge farther past the Nova-side values than looks necessary. The numbers are not fixed in one position: they grow, shrink, and shift as digit counts change, and the Nova slot can disappear when it is zero.
  • Keep the top and bottom around the single horizontal resource row.
  • Do not include any part of the Credit multiplier printed below Credits. If multiplier text enters this box, the Credits scan can fail.
  • If Credits, Chips, Nova, and Rebirth all stop reading together, check this box first.

Every calibration area

Resource strip

Frame
The full bottom-left row containing the Credits, Upgrade Chips, Nova, and Rebirth icons and their values.
Include
All four icons, all possible value widths, extra room left of the Credits icon, and extra room beyond the Nova-side values.
Keep out
The Credit multiplier below Credits, nearby buttons, and as much moving scenery as practical.

Credit multiplier

Frame
Only the smaller multiplier directly below Credits, such as 23.7x.
Include
The complete multiplier value and its x suffix.
Keep out
The Credits value above it and anything from the Resource strip box.

Current companions

Frame
Both equipped companion cards along the bottom HUD.
Include
Both droid names and both effect lines.
Keep out
A one-card crop. The reader expects the complete two-card pair.

Level number

Frame
Only the number inside the level badge.
Include
Every digit of the current level.
Keep out
The XP bar and nearby labels.

Level progress bar

Frame
The whole XP bar, including both the filled and unfilled track.
Include
A little width beyond both ends of the visible bar. Droidex measures the fill fraction rather than reading text.
Keep out
Cropping the right end of the bar; that can make progress look higher than it is.

XP multiplier

Frame
The green XP multiplier to the right of the level bar.
Include
The complete number and x suffix.
Keep out
The XP bar itself.

Held droid card

Frame
The complete blueprint or held-item card near the center of the screen.
Include
The complete panel so the name, rarity, variant, costs, and values stay inside their expected areas.
Keep out
A tight name-only crop. Droidex reads several parts of this panel after the game reports that an item is being carried.

Rare spawn chat

Frame
The chat lines where rare spawn notifications appear.
Include
The full notification width and enough height for the lines you use.
Keep out
Unrelated HUD panels. This optional region depends on your chat position and scale.

Belt Watch

Frame
The visible Sandcrawler conveyor and active blueprint card row.
Include
The full part of the belt where cards travel while your normal belt-view camera is held still.
Keep out
Treating it like a HUD element. The conveyor moves with the camera, so the same box cannot see it when you look elsewhere.

Using the Companion window

Droidex

The live Droidex website inside the Companion, including guides, the Droidex catalog, planners, and trackers. Epic sign-in still opens in your normal browser.

Reading

Plain-language status for capture, OCR, HUD fields, Belt Watch, held cards, stations, and recent alerts. Use it when a number looks wrong.

Calibrate

Saved capture profiles and boxes for each detected resolution.

Account

Link or unlink this PC, sign out this device, or permanently delete the Droidex account. Only permanent deletion removes account data.

Settings

Replay setup, change Overwolf hotkeys, manage sharing, review calibration, check game-data updates, and open help, Terms, or Privacy.

Account linking, sync, privacy, and backups

  • Linking is optional. Without a linked account, local overlays can still work, but website progress sync and connected lobby features are unavailable.
  • Droidex reads the Fortnite window locally. Screenshots and OCR images are not uploaded.
  • Share my stats publishes only the connected gameplay statistics and confirmed base ownership used by participating-player features.
  • Save a backup after calibration and overlay placement, especially before reinstalling. Use Save a backup, Restore a backup, and Show my backups in the Companion.

Troubleshooting

Overlays do not appear

  1. Confirm Fortnite is enabled under Overwolf Settings > Overlay & Hotkeys, then restart Overwolf before Fortnite.
  2. Enter the Droid Tycoon island and wait for the world to finish loading. Droidex intentionally stays hidden in the Fortnite menu and on other islands.
  3. Press Shift + F2 and make sure the wanted overlay is enabled.

Numbers are blank or wrong

  1. Open Menu > Reading and check whether the app says Reading screen, Calibration needed, or Reader unavailable.
  2. Open the live calibrator and save the matching resolution profile.
  3. Check the Resource strip first. It must include the icons and possible value positions but exclude the Credit multiplier completely.

An overlay will not move or resize

  1. Press Shift + F10 to unlock controls.
  2. Drag the labeled move rail instead of ordinary overlay text.
  3. If it is off-screen or badly sized, use Reset overlay arrangement.

Belt Watch does not read cards

  1. Stand near the recorded conveyor area and look directly at the belt.
  2. Use Belt aim in live calibration and frame the moving card row with your normal camera position.
  3. Keep the camera still while Belt Watch runs. Calibration cannot follow a conveyor that has moved out of the box.

A hotkey does nothing or conflicts

  1. Open Companion > Menu > Settings > Change hotkeys.
  2. Choose an unused binding in Overwolf. Droidex reminders update to the saved binding, so use the keys shown in your app if they differ from this manual.

The cursor is hidden during calibration

  1. Press Ctrl + Tab to recover the cursor.
  2. You can also close live calibration from the Overlay Manager.
